FULL ITINERARY

DAY 1: 09h00 Meet Jacaranda City – Dullstroom

We meet at On Any Day Adventures home in Pretoria for a fresh brew of coffee and a brief of what to expect on the retro-journey that awaits. On our bikes, we hit the tarred road to the eye candied Mpumalanga. Our journey will mostly be on the highway – it is 230km (+/- 3 hours) on the Iconic Triumph Bonnevilles.

Our first night is in Dullstroom, tucked in the Highlands Meander of Mpumalanga, on the opposite side of the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range. The location makes for the unique climate of dewy air and misty clouds.

We start on the brightest side of Dullstroom, ‘Wild About Whiskey’ – a whisky bar that stocks the largest count of whiskies in South Africa. The bar was founded in 2006 and has since grown its range to over 1000 bottles from around the world and counting. You will have a bespoke learning experience whilst enjoying your whisky in the most relaxed, unpretentious setting. Whisky not palatable to you – some crafts gins and crafts beer are available for your alternative taste.

We kick off our boots to a splendid dinner, as we connect in anticipation to our dry, muddy, wet adventure, where the most likely noise you will get to hear is that of roaring bikes, calls of birds, some rustle of reeds and grass with inhabitants going on their business and your own elated voice.

Stay at The Highlander (or similar)

DAY 2: 09h00 Depart Dullstroom – Hazyview

Arise and shine to a bountiful breakfast to get us ready for the exhilarating ride to Hazyview.

We tackle the infamous Tom Pass, a benchmark on performance for mobile machines, where we will make a stop at the top of the pass for a craft beer tasting and tour of the highest micro-brewery in Africa – ‘Hops Hollow Brewery’.
We ride on to the lush town of Sabie, the centre of the Panoramic Route, then the ‘Golden Triangle’ to Hazyview.

This evening, the glowing flames of Southern African cultures come alight in a feast of song, dance, narration, and cuisine at Shangaan River Club, where we will get a taste of the rich cultures of Shangaan, Tswana and Zulu in one seating.

We stay at Casa Do Sol (or similar)

DAY 3: Hazyview

After breakfast we ride off road for approximately 5km, through lush citrus plantations onto the Hazyview/ Sabie road where we continue to Sabie.

Our first stop is at the misty, elegant ‘Bridal Veil Falls’ – known for its imposing height at 70 metres tall, that sprays the lush forest, indigenous fauna and flora around. We will get to stop at three of the numerous natural falls on this route. Next, the ‘Horse Shoe Falls’ ending with the ‘Lone Creek Falls’ where you will have the opportunity to swim in the clear blue rock pool. Our walk to the falls is approximately 900m; good hiking shoes are required.

Lunch is on open fires, open-air cooking, open-air seating, beer on cold ice at ‘Pot Luck’ located on the banks of the Blyde River. The experience is focused on the beauty of nature and the raw taste of the bushveld.

After dinner we take you on a 4 x4 night game drive in Sabie, where you will have the rare chance to experience some nocturnal activities under the stars – you just might hear the odd laughter of the skulking hyena, catch a glimpse of a stalking lion.

We stay at Casa Do Sol (or similar)

DAY 4: 10h00 Depart Hazyview – Jacaranda City

We ride back to Pretoria through the magnificent Lowveld, more rolling hills, valleys, farms that sculpt the Mpumalanga landscape. We stop in Schoomanskloof for lunch at a ‘The Seedling’ where we will enjoy their plant-based dishes; refreshing after ‘the bush indulgence’.
