FULL ITINERARY

DAY 1: 09h00 depart Jacaranda City to Mokopane

We meet at On Any Day Adventures home in Pretoria for a fresh brew of coffee and a brief of what to expect on the retro-journey that awaits. On our bikes, we hit the tarred road to Mokopane, Limpopo Province. We will ride mostly on the highway for 230km (+/- 3 hours) on the Iconic Triumph Bonnevilles.

We have the afternoon at leisure in the Entabeni Reserve; an area previously known as a thriving hub for tobacco farming and other natural crops due to abundance of rain. Due to droughts in the 1970’s – most farms looked to game farming which now attracts tourism.

Tonight, we will go on a night game drive and experience some nocturnal activities in the wild.

We stay at Entabeni (or similar)

DAY 2: Mokopane – Haenertsburg

After breakfast, we head for the quaint town of Haenertsburg. Our route is via the religious site called Moria – (home to the Zion Christian Church) which sees in excess of 4 million worshipers flock to this area over Easter.

We visit the award-wining micro-brewery – Zwakala; where beers are hand-crafted, organically brewed to perfection without artificial processes. The star ingredient is the clear and pure water harvested from Letaba River, with its legendary qualities and tales.

The brewery is perched up on the hill with spectacular long views of Wolkberg Mountains, where you can inhale the nature induced calmness it offers.

We take a stroll to an African Craft Centre on the farm that showcases ancient weave and sculpt artwork. You will get to meet, interact with the co-operative members who trade at the centre, are always proud to introduce visitors to the heritage and signature skills of the people of Limpopo.
There is also a nursery that grows indigenous medicinal plants; dried flowers and medicinal teas are made on-site. The list includes – Artemisia Afra, Javanica, Leonotus to name a few.

A sumptuous dinner will be served at ‘The Eatery’ with a medley of Gin Cocktails for you to choose from.

We stay at Pennefather Cottages (or similar)
Ps – Smallest art gallery in Africa onsite.

DAY 3: Magoebaskloof

After breakfast, expect a dry, wet ride off-road in the forests of Magoebaskloof via Ebenezer Dam. This is a beautiful mountainous area in the Limpopo Province at the very north eastern tip of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, fondly known as “The Silver Mist” because of its ever-present sprays of mists feeding its rich hills and valleys. This mist belt has resulted in the lush afro-montane forests that make the area a welcome green oasis in the Limpopo bushveld.

We stop at the adventure hub of Canopy Tours where we experience the excitement of Zip-lining through the beautiful ravines of Magoebaskloof.

A light lunch and drink are served afterwards at the visitor centre.

We take a short ride off road to a secluded picnic spot along the river’s edge. The river is perfect for swimming and is renowned for its clear waters and restorative qualities.

We ride back to town for some relaxed fun; hunting for retro-gems at quaint antique shops.

Dinner is served – Traditional South African Braai

We stay at Pennefather Cottages (or similar)

DAY 4: Haenertsburg – Hazyview

After breakfast we depart for Hazyview – a 300km ride (approximately 4 hours). Our spectacular ride will see us ride through the spectacular Magoebaskloof toward the tropical Tzaneen.

From here we ride via Ohrigstad, known as the gateway to the Panorama Route, to Lydenburg – riding the infamous Long Tom Pass. When we reach the top of the pass we stop at the highest micro-brewery in Africa – ‘Hops Hollow Brewery’ for a craft beer tasting and a tour.

We continue to the lush town of Sabie, the centre of the Panoramic Route, hitting the ‘Golden Triangle’ to Hazyview.

This evening, the glowing flames of Southern African cultures come alight in a feast of song, dance, narration, and cuisine at Shangaan River Club, where we will get a taste of the rich cultures of Shangaan, Tswana and Zulu in one seating.

We stay at Casa Do Sol (or similar)

DAY 5: Hazyview

After breakfast we ride off road for approximately 5km, through lush citrus plantations onto the Hazyview/Sabie road where we continue to Sabie.

Our first stop is at the misty, elegant ‘Bridal Veil Falls’ – known for its imposing height at 70 metres tall, that sprays the lush forest, indigenous fauna and flora. We will get to stop at three of the numerous natural falls on this route. Next, is the ‘Horse Shoe Falls’ ending with the ‘Lone Creek Falls’ where you will have the opportunity to swim in the clear blue rock pool. Our walk to the falls is approximately 900m; good hiking shoes are required.

Lunch is on open fires, open-air cooking, open-air seating, beer on cold ice at ‘Pot Luck’ located on the banks of the Blyde River. The experience is focused on the beauty of nature around you and the raw taste of the bushveld.

After dinner we take you on a 4 x4 night game drive in Sabie Sands, where you will have the rare chance to experience some nocturnal activities under the stars – you just might hear the odd laughter of the skulking hyena, catch a glimpse of a stalking lion all in one night.

We stay at Casa Do Sol (or similar)

DAY 6: 10h00 Depart Hazyview – Jacaranda City

We ride back to Pretoria through the magnificent Lowveld, more rolling hills, valleys, farms that sculpt the Mpumalanga landscape. We stop in Schoemanskloof for lunch at a ‘The Seedling’ where we will enjoy their plant-based dishes; refreshing after ‘the bush indulgence’.
